FAMILY SUES COMPANY FOR TRAGIC ELEVATOR ACCIDENT

Last month, two employees were doing repair work on a man-lift. As they went down on the lift, it malfunctioned and the two fell to the bottom of the grain elevator shaft. One worker’s arm was cut off as a result, and it was injury he would die from. The two workers were not even equipped with radios; they were not found until the cleaning crew discovered them. By that point, the injured worker had suffered tremendous blood loss.

According the decedent’s wife, he had never done work in a grain elevator before and lacked any training for that job. She is alleging that the company was negligent, that it did not put in place necessary safety equipment and did not give employees emergency communication devices. She also accuses the company of letting the building fall into disrepair, failing to supervise the premises, and more. On her behalf and on her son’s behalf, she is seeking damages for medical bills, funeral costs, physical and mental suffering, loss of companionship, lost wages, and more.

There is no amount that can truly compensate for such a tragedy. Yet a wrongful death claim can provide the financial help necessary to a family going through an intense time, where the family is left with hefty medical bills, funeral fees, and more. Times are hard enough without the financial burdens inflicted by another person’s negligence. If you have lost a loved one because of such negligence, then you are likely entitled to compensation.
